American Friends of The Hebrew University bestowed its highest national honor on Roberta and Stanley Bogen for their support of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, when the organization held its gala on January 28, 2012 at The Breakers Hotel. Over $1.5 million was raised at the event, which was designated to advance pioneering work at the Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment at The Hebrew University. The event also featured a special performance by musical icon and Grammy award winner, Ms. Dionne Warwick.
The Scopus Award was presented by Hebrew University President, Professor Menahem Ben-Sasson, and American Friends of The Hebrew University National President, Martin E. Karlinsky.
The National Scopus Award is the American Friends’ highest recognition for humanitarian achievement and it is awarded to individuals who are committed to The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and are involved with many humanitarian causes on local, national and international levels. Named for Mount Scopus, where The Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s first cornerstones were laid in 1918, the award has come to symbolize the University’s highest ideals.
The 2012 Scopus Award Gala, chaired by Lori and Bruce Gendelman, Barbara and Richard Rothschild, Judy and Robert Snyder, and Nancy and Kenneth Stein, began with a reception and was followed by the awards ceremony, dinner, dancing and a performance by Ms. Warwick.
