On August 23, 2010, San Francisco Opera Ball patrons joined co-chairs, Charlot Malin and Mary Poland to celebrate the upcoming opening of San Francisco Opera's 88th season. Hosted by San Francisco Opera Guild and Obscura Digital at its new high-tech headquarters, the Opera Ball pre-party gave guests the opportunity to enjoy sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and cocktails courtesy of Credo, McCall Associates, Grey Goose, William Hill and Scharffenberger. Obscura Digital, known for its groundbreaking immersive and interactive experiences – whether mapping video onto nearly any surface to building large-scale, multi-touch displays - transported guests to Egypt via a digital, full dome movie (courtesy of Evans & Sutherland) that vividly brought Aida to life.
Presented by San Francisco Opera Guild, Opera Ball 2010 kicks off San Francisco Opera’s 88th season on Friday, September 10 featuring Verdi’s Aida, conducted by Music Director Nicola Luisotti. Proceeds raised by Opera Ball are channeled towards extending the impact of opera in the community and specifically helping to make a difference in the lives of more than 58,000 Bay Area children through the Opera and Opera Guild’s education and community programs.
