The San Francisco Symphony held its Opening Night Gala, kicking off its 99th season, on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. The Symphonix Dinner took place in San Francisco City Hall before the Gala concert, which features Operatic superstar Jessye Norman, performing Ellington classics alongside Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony. The concert was followed by two After Parties in City Hall and the Grove Street Tent Pavilion, which feature complimentary live entertainment by The Fundamentals and Jonathan Poretz and a Swingin’ Night at the Sands.
Symphonix Opening Night Gala co-chairs were Kristen Harper and Maggie Hazelrig. The Symphonix League is the San Francisco Symphony's young professional association, dedicated to cultivating the next generation of classical music enthusiasts. More than 1,600 young, trend-setting philanthropists and community leaders are members of the Symphonix League.
