The 1st Annual Hamptons Project Kids Worldwide Charity Fundraiser was held on September 11, 2010 at the home of Alan Brachfeld in Quogue. The event raised money for needy children worldwide who require heart surgery to survive.
Director Helane Brachfeld-Colvin Nurse Practitioner, widow of the late Dr. Stephen B. Colvin former Chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center, is carrying on her late husband’s mission; to make a difference in the life of a child. “Together we can continue to bring hope to deserving children around the world. We must not blow out the candle of hope for the many children who still need the lifesaving heart surgery that Steven was renowned for. Together we can continue his mission. We can continue to bring hope to deserving children around the world.” Project Kids Worldwide raises money for the round trip ticket for the child and parent, covers the medical costs for their heart surgery, provides room and board, after which they return home to begin their new lease on life.
This meaningful event on a day of remembrance, Sept 11th, was attended by 150 guests who were “wined and dined” while dancing to the live band “Noiz.“
