The Guggenheim Museum hosted their annual Guggenheim International Gala on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. The GIG raised over $2 million for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.
The night’s honorees were Ellsworth Kelly and Julie Mehretu. The auction included works by Will Cotton, Damien Hirst, Jason Martin, Rob Pruitt and Joel Shapiro.
Isabella and Theodor Dalenson and Amy Phelan served as Chairs. Honorary Chairs were Jennifer and David Stockman. Major support provided by BMW.
Artists in attendance were Maurizio Cattelan, Dan Colen, Will Cotton, Liam Gillick, Roni Horn, Pierre Huyghe, Ellsworth Kelly, Jeff Koons, Adam McEwen, Julie Mehretu, Marilyn Minter, Sarah Morris, Rob Pruitt, David Salle, Joel Shapiro, Jack Shear and Frank Stella, and also Frank Gehry and designer Stefan Sagmeister. Additional guests included Eli and Edythe Broad, Maria Baibakova, Henry Buhl, Denise and John Calicchio, Ambassador Paul Cejas, Lisa Dennison, Carl Gustaf Ehrnrooth, Larry Gagosian, Howard Ganek, Frank Gehry, Agnes Gund, Dana Hammond and Patrick Stubgen, Ronnie Heyman, Ronald Lauder, William and Phyllis Mack, Jeffrey and Nicola Marcus, Matthew Marks, Wendy and Thomas McNeil, Linda and Harry Macklowe, Denise and Andrew Saul and Liz Swig. Select guests were transported to the event in BMW cars.
The design was by David Monn with dinner by Olivier Cheng. Each guest was given a limited edition gift designed by Adam McEwen.
