Author William “ Billy” Norwich, a long time friend of and collector of works by abstract botanical painter Dora Frost hosted a reception for Frost’s first New York show in a number of years “Peonies” at Miguel Herrera’s 2/20 Gallery in Chelsea on Tuesday April 10, 2010. Frost whose lush botanical paintings are highly prized by numerous prominent collectors in New York, Palm Beach and The Hamptons was overwhelmed by the turnout as friends flew up from Florida, drove down from Connecticut or in from The Hamptons.
Also featured was an exquisite video on Dora created by Emmy winning videographer Consuelo Gonzalez.
Limousines and chauffeured town cars jammed 16th Street as friends such as Jean Shafiroff, Wilbur and Hilary Ross, Sally Phipps, Ann & Susan Madonia, Cooky Donaldson, Roger Van Voorhees, Brad Shaheen, Bonnie Alsop, Caryn Picker, Charlotte Smith, Jim Hyatt, film director Anna Wilding, interior designer Stef-Albert Bothma the artist Colette and Broadway producers Ruben Brache and Pamela Laudenslager arrived. So crowded was the gallery that some 60 guests mingled on the sidewalk while waitstaff from Pamela Willoughby and Bridget LeRoy’s new catering venture La Vie Organic poured Prosecco and served delectable hors d’oeuvres al fresco. Thank goodness for the warm weather!
