On August 17, 2011, The Couture Council of The Museum at FIT hosted their annual Summer Party at the Boathouse in Central Park NYC, which kicked off their drive to sell tickets for their fall award luncheon honoring Valentino.
As usual, many fashion designers took a break from their preparations for their fall collections to attend including Zac Posen, Thakoon Panichgul, Carlos Campos, Maria Cornejo, Stan Herman, Eric Javitz, Gemma Khang, Tiffany Koury, Raul Melgoza (Luca Luca), Maggie Norris, Devon Scott, Steven Stolman and Patricia Underwood.
The party’s host committee includes: Anne Goldrach, Michelle Violy Harper, Yaz Hernandez, Chiu-Ti Jansen, Michèle Gerber Klein, Alexandra Lebenthal, Kamie Lightburn, Doris P. Meister, Liz Peek, Jean Shafiroff, and Sarah G. Wolfe and Director of The Museum at FIT, Dr. Valerie Steele.

Liz Peek, the Founder and Chairman of the Couture Council, made a toast thanking her guests and urging everyone to buy tickets for the upcoming Valentino luncheon.
The Couture Council of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) will present Valentino with the 2011 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion on September 7th at a benefit luncheon at the David H. Koch Theater, New York City.
Luncheon chairs are Anne H. Bass, Charlotte Moss, Diane von Furstenberg and The Honorable Daphne Guinness, whose personal couture collection will be the subject of an exhibition opening at The Museum at FIT in September 2011. A number of Valentino’s masterpieces will be featured in this exhibition.
