On May 25, 2011, more than 500 guests gathered at the Waldorf=Astoria to honor three distinguished women for their professional achievements, philanthropic work and personal commitment to the fight against women’s cancers. “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts, entrepreneur Laura Geller and charity patron Elayne “Honey” Cook received The Spirit of Life Award at City of Hope’s Spring Luncheon, hosted by the East End Chapter/Jeanne Kaye League. The Spring Luncheon raised $350,000 for research and treatment programs at City of Hope, one of the nation’s leading cancer research, treatment and education centers for cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The Spring Luncheon featured a 1940s “Hollywood Glamour” with fashion by Hanky Panky and jewelry from RichRocks. In its 40-year history, the Spring Luncheon has raised more than $8 million for lifesaving research and treatment programs.
The following presented each honoree with her award: Lisa Mason for Laura Geller; Malaak Compton-Rock for Robin Roberts; and Ann Cook Moss and Dana Stone for Honey Cook.
