On Wednesday, June 1, 2011, Central Park Conservancy held its Taste of Summer event. The 16th annual event raised nearly $650,000, which will help maintain and preserve Central Park. Over 1,000 guests filled the big white tent in front of the Naumburg Bandshell to sample and enjoy the gourmet delights provided by forty renowned New York chefs and restaurants. Ed Libby & Company created the décor. DJ Tom Finn kept the dance floor filled throughout the night.
Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group hosted the event’s VIP Café with Blue Smoke’s Jason Krantz and Jennifer Giblin, Gramercy Tavern’s Mike Anthony and Nancy Olson; Tabla’s Floyd Cardoz; The Modern’s Gabriel Kreuther and Marc Aumont; Union Square Café’s Carmen Quagliata; Union Square Event’s Robb Garceau and Dan Keehner.
Conservancy President Doug Blonsky and Women’s Committee President Gillian Miniter greeted revelers who included Kitty Kempner, Liz and Jeff Peek, Patsy and Jeff Tarr, Suzanne and Bob Cochran, Charlotte and Vittorio Assaf, Blaine and Robert Caravaggi and Pat Attoe. The event’s Trustee Chairmen were Jay Mandelbaum and Norman Selby.
Committee members included Muffie Potter Aston, Ashley Baker, Edward Barsamian, Mario Buatta, Ashley Bush, Lauren Bush, Sharon Bush, David Patrick Columbia, Dave Davis, Peter Davis, Andrea Greeven Douzet, Somers Farkas, Suzanne and Woody Johnson, Kristy and Jonathan Korngold, Jill Lafer, James LaForce, Alexandra Lebenthal, Peter Max, Patrick McMullan, Vanessa Noel, Yesim Philip, Felicia Taylor and John Truex.

A silent auction included such items as a Tiffany & Co. Bridget satchel; a coveted reservation for eight at Rao’s, a dinner for four in the private skybox at Daniel; a stay in the Penthouse at James New York; a private tour of Isaac Mizrahi’s Studio including a private lunch for you and a guest with Isaac; private cocktail party at Luca Luca after store hours and winner gets a cocktail dress; a New York City marathon package which includes finish-line tickets and the pre-marathon cocktail party; a weekend at the Plaza Athenee plus a private tour of Central Park; a haircut at the John Barrett Salon; two tickets to the Lela Rose Spring 2012 fashion show; Vanessa Noel private party and shopping experience for 30 guests; a one week stay at Villas by Linda Smith in Jamaica and Jewelry by CIRCA.
Wines were generously provided by Georges Duboeuf and Hob Nob.
