OVERVIEW

Renowned interior designer Geoffrey Bradfield, was commissioned in 2007 by the resort's new owner HEI Hotels & Resorts, to lead a sweeping renovation of the 238 year-old resort, which has hosted our nation's presidents and served as a meeting place for the fathers of the American Revolution. What has emerged is a remarkable fusion of the past with the present, featuring the most modern and sophisticated amenities.

The magnificent new Great Room, created by Bradfield in conjunction with famed architectural firm Baskervill Architects, is a statement in subtlety. Inspired by the innovative work of famous Swiss sculptor Diego Giacometti, it is meant to capture the artistic sense of the 21st century. Soothing earth tones, superb lighting and ample seating, lend a warm, comfortable, and relaxed feeling.

The Equinox, now a member of the Luxury Collection, is nestled between the Taconic and Green Mountains, blending New England charm and breathtaking scenery with contemporary luxury. Its newly renovated 195 oversized guest rooms and suites are more inviting than ever.

The 1811 House, a 13-room, Federal period-style romantic country inn, was the former home of Abraham Lincoln's  granddaughter. Each individually-decorated room - named for some of Manchester's most illustrious and colorful figures - has fireplaces, private porches, private baths, oriental rugs, authentic antiques and original artwork throughout the property.

The elegantly restored, 19th century Charles Orvis Inn has nine, exquisite one- and two-bedroom suites with gourmet kitchens, living rooms and marble Jacuzzis.

The townhouses to the side of the resort's main building, feature 30 bedrooms, including 10 elegant suites with fireplaces, fully equipped kitchens, porches and a living room with sleeper sofa.

All guest rooms are air conditioned, most with 42” plasma TV's, CD stereos, wireless high speed internet and in-room movies, and all overlook either the resort's picturesque seasonal gardens, Manchester Village, or Equinox Mountain.

DINING AT THE EQUINOX

The Equinox's five exceptional restaurants are now under the stewardship of renowned Chef Jeffrey Russell, named one of the best hotel chefs in America by the James Beard Foundation.

Window-paned doors open up onto the open-air fire pit deck where guests can enjoy incredible mountain vistas. Falcon Bar offers an extensive collection of single malt scotches and a comprehensive wine list with over 30 wines available in flights, or in three, six or nine ounce servings. A menu of locally sourced cheeses and delectable Knipschildt chocolates, rated one of the top three chocolates in the world by Gourmet Magazine, are served.

The Chop House, another recent addition, is located at the original site of the The Equinox House Hotel built by Franklin Orvis in 1853, and it maintains the original stone hearth. It is a classic steak house offering the finest cuts of meat in the area and featuring an outstanding wine list, is representative of a beautifully refined hunter's lodge. It is warm and sensual with browns, burgundies and reds and old hardwood floors. Leather banquettes and chairs surround oversized tables designed to comfortably accommodate the typically oversized steak house fare.

The historic Marsh Tavern first opened in 1769 and renowned for its New England fare, has been completely redesigned. It has been the favorite watering hole of presidents since 1769. It accommodates guests for lunch and dinner, a bar menu is also available. The menu is sophisticated, New England-style cuisine full of nostalgic flavors and simple, farm fresh ingredients. Meals at The Tavern are hearty, healthy and leisurely paced. The bar specializes in an extensive selection of beers and ales and features snacks such as pretzels served with Raye's Mustard from Maine, the last stone ground mustard mill in the country.
