Background: Mr. Guenther joined PaineWebber in 1966 as a securities analyst and quickly rose to head of research. He held numerous senior management positions and was named President of PaineWebber Incorporated, the company's broker-dealer subsidiary in 1988. In 1994, he was named President of the parent company. Mr. Guenther has been a member of of the Board of Directors of Paine Webber Group since 1986. He retired in 1995.
