Alfred J. Shuman is the Founder and Managing Member of The Archstone Partnerships.

Graduate, Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts
BA,  Harvard College in 1961
MBA, Harvard Business School in 1963  

Married to Stephanie Shuman

He has been employed in the investment industry for 44 years.  In 1990, Mr. Shuman founded The Archstone Partnerships of which he is the Managing Member.  Prior to Archstone, Mr. Shuman was a Managing Director of Bear Stearns and managed three event-driven hedge funds.

Trustee, Valley View School for Boys in North Brookfield, Massachusetts

National Director Emeritus, Outward Bound U.S.A. and has been a Trustee for fifteen years and has served as Chairman of its investment committee. 

Member, Brookings Institution Council

He is an avid photography collector and is a member of the Acquisitions Committee of the International Center of Photography in New York City and the Santa Barbara Art Museum. 

He is President of the Windmill Lane Foundation and he and his wife manage the Shuman Fund for GIST Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. 

Mr. Shuman served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Andover Alumni Association and led his 50th reunion gifts campaign.  He serves as consultant to the Andover Endowment Fund in the area of alternative investments.
